Sustainability

The University of British Columbia is the first Canadian University to announce it has achieved targets set by the Kyoto Protocol. By announcing aggressive plans to reduce GHG an additional 33% from 2007 levels by 2015, President Stephen Toope continues with bold targets for the future.

Xerox is committed to supporting UBC's sustainability efforts by:

  • Eliminating redundant print devices
  • Implementing energy efficient technology
  • Introducing the Green World Alliance toner reuse/recycling program
  • Standardizing 2-sided printing (duplex)

As a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified Chain of Custody production facility, the Xerox facility stocks a variety of sustainable and environmentally friendly products including:

  • FSC Certified papers
  • 30% Post Consumer Waste business papers
  • High yield Emulsion Aggregate (EA) toners
  • Cartridge-free solid-ink toners such as the ColorQube

Recycle Supply Items

Xerox Canada is improving the process for recycling and remanufacturing used supply items. Through the Green World Alliance collection/reuse/recycling program for spent imaging supplies, customers return more than 2.5 million cartridges and toner containers annually. Over the last 20 years, our supplies recycling programs have kept more than 145 million pounds of waste out of landfills.
